Fresno County Self-Insurance Group (FCSIG) is a public
agency Joint Powers Authority (JPA) formed pursuant
to the provisions of Title 1, Division 7, Chapter 5,
Article 1 (Sections 6500 et seq.) of the California
Government Code.
FCSIG provides pooled Workers’ Compensation coverage
to 31 public educational agencies. Membership includes
K-12 districts; county office of education; a transportation
JPA; and support services JPA within Fresno County.
FCSIG was established in 1982. The pool provides for
payment of claims up to a maximum $500,000 Self-Insured
Retention (SIR) per claim. Excess insurance is purchased
for claims that may exceed the SIR.
The FCSIG Board of Directors consists of 14 representatives
from the various members. The Board schedules regular
quarterly meetings. FCSIG has no employees. Administration
of the program is provided by contract with Tucker-Alexander
Insurance Associates. The administrative office is located
in Selma, California. A third party claims administrator
(TPA) administers the claims.
